This song ofcourse had to be done in a blues style but somehow the first idea it gave me was not entirely blues but more pop ballad. It took me till the end of the recording to finally accept this song could be a bluesy pop-ballad and in fact would make it somewhat different than most blues songs.
But it took some time for me to accept this: a song with blues in the the title should be a blues song also I thought. Luckily I didnt change my mind and the song after that became one of the favorites of the whole Song Archive. It’s another example of how songs actually write themselves and even as I put it always take over the song. Those are in fact the more interesting ones: songs that come out differently than you actually had planned it – like a big surprise… |
There are many roads a man might choose And I never thought that I could lose But now you’ve left me pretty baby I keep wonderin’ what’s the use? Nothin’s left to me but these bluesI’ve got nothing left worth anything I got no more strength to masquerade Cause when you left me pretty baby And left me crying all alone Nothin’s left but these blues When I get home
When you left me pretty baby I’ve got nothing left worth anything |
