Underworld king Lee Lother has been killed aboard a ocean liner, several people could have been the murderer. There is his mistress Anya Roysen, a married woman, who was jealous of his flirtations with his old moll, night club singer Sally Marsh, who had agreed for one last night with Lother, to get her younger brother Ned out of the Lother’s clutches because he has faked Lother’s name on a check to pay his gambling debts. Then there is Sally’s new flame Jimmy Brett, a con man and gentlemen thief, who has out-tricked Lother in a fixed poker game, and is, together with shorty, after the ladies jewels. Inspector McKinney suspects Joe Saunders, a recently released convict, who was arrested due to some tips by Lother, but Ned and Sally insist that they committed the crime alone.

The story of two 18-year old best friends who grew up together in the suburbs of Amsterdam. Dunya is Moroccan, grown up with Ramadan, imams and Mecca. Desie is as Dutch as cheese and tulips. On her 18th birthday Dunya is told that her family would like her to marry a second cousin from Morocco. She shall meet him during the family’s holiday in Morocco but she’s not looking forward to it. Desie, who has recently begun taking driving lessons, unexpectedly gets pregnant from her driving instructor. He breaks up with her instantly and says it’s up to Desie to solve this. Desie want to look for her biological father. When appears that her father lives in Morocco, Dunya and Desie decide to go and look for him together. But Morocco is not Amsterdam, and together they get entangled in a road trip that takes them through the country of Morroco; from the big cities, through the deserts, into the mountains, where they get into exciting and hilarious situations. In the end they have to make some important choices for themselves.

The world famous Karthoum diamond, which is worth some 2 million extremely hard Dutch Guilders, is being transported to the Netherlands from Pretoria to be on display in a museum. Director Sondag feels the diamond isn’t getting enough protection and resorts to hiring a private detective to keep an eye on it. Unfortunately for him, some Italian mobsters are planning a jewel heist and make sure Sondag hires the bumbling and incompetent Sherlock Jones. In fact, Sherlock’s basset hound Watson has a better grasp of the situation than his master.
